Microbiology Laboratory Supervisor-FT-Provo

Position Summary: Revere Health is seeking an energetic leader to supervise a new Clinical Laboratory with a testing emphasis in Microbiology testing. The applicant should have a background in validation, testing, and/or supervision in microbiology, molecular, and other laboratory test systems. Experience should include microbiology organism identification, antibiotic sensitivity testing, and associated quality control and quality assurance. Experience in laboratory information system build of these specialties. Candidate will be responsible for oversight and monitoring of quality control, patient testing, employee orientation, training, and competency of new and existing lab staff.

 

Essential Job Functions:

Test system validation and testing in laboratory microbiology, molecular and other testing as needed. Maintaining and support appropriate employee staffing levels by performing recruiting, candidate interviews, on-boarding, training, and evaluations as needed Performs laboratory testing needed. Oversees performance and documentation of quality control and proficiency testing. Monitors and reviews required equipment preventive maintenance. Management of reagent and supply inventory. Reviews departmental performance to ensure compliance with all CLIA and OSHA regulatory requirements. Knowledgeable of general clinical laboratory procedures and practices and uses knowledge to evaluate department and recommend improvement. Mandatory microorganism reporting as required by federal and state guidelines. Advises the Laboratory Director of equipment needs. Works closely with Laboratory Services Director to promote and maintain efficient, high quality lab services and a professional, safe, and collaborative work environment. With the support of the vendor, build of the Orchard Enterprise microbiology module in our laboratory information system. 

 

Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, chemical, physical, or biological science and registration as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist ASCP or equivalent required.  Minimum 2 years of clinical laboratory experience in CLIA high complexity laboratory testing including: Microbiology, Molecular, and General Immunology. Familiar with CLIA and OSHA Laboratory regulations. Previous experience in microbiology testing; gram stain, specimen identification and sensitivity testing. 

 

Hours:

Position is a scheduled 40-hour work week, primarily Monday – Friday, rotating weekends. Shifts may vary to the needs of the department.
