**Microbiology Supervisor** Laboratory Orange County, CA, US + Added - 18/12/2024 Apply for Job The Microbiology Lab Supervisor will oversee the daily operations of the microbiology laboratory in a personal-care product manufacturing facility. The supervisor will manage a team, perform microbiological testing, and ensure the safety and quality of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products. They will also contribute to the development and improvement of lab processes and ensure that all testing is done accurately and on time. **Pay rate:** $70-$80k/ annually **Location:** Orange County, CA **Job type:** Direct-hire **Responsibilities:** + Supervise and guide microbiology staff in performing microbial analyses of raw materials, bulk products, and finished goods. Ensure training and procedures are consistent with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and company guidelines + Perform routine microbiological tests on finished goods, raw materials, and in-process products, following the appropriate SOPs and testing protocols + Oversee the implementation of training programs for the microbiology team, ensuring alignment with company training standards. Provide direction and expertise on microbiology operations + Oversee the reception and processing of samples in the microbiology lab, ensuring proper handling, testing, and final report issuance, including media preparation in accordance with the protocols + Administer the company’s Environmental Monitoring Program, analyze results, and escalate issues when necessary to ensure compliance with standards + Assist the microbiology team in tasks such as media preparation, sample plating, and result analysis to support daily laboratory operations + Develop comprehensive investigation reports for Out-of-Specification (OOS) results and customer complaints, assisting in the resolution of quality issues and maintaining product integrity + Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all laboratory processes in line with SOPs. Maintain proper record-keeping and support compliance with regulatory requirements **Required Qualifications:** + A Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology or a related discipline from an accredited institution + At least 5 years of experience working in a laboratory setting, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role + Experience with the US Pharmacopoeia (USP) and Personal Care Product Council (PCPC) Microbial Testing Methods + In-depth understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) as they apply to personal care and over the counter (OTC) drug products. + Strong written and verbal communication skills in English + Proven ability to solve problems, make decisions, and stay organized in fast-paced environments + Advanced skills in statistics and data analysis.
