Job Title: Microbiology Laboratory Technician
Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Microbiology Laboratory Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will perform essential microbiological testing and environmental monitoring to ensure the highest quality standards in our pharmaceutical lab. This role requires a sound understanding of laboratory procedures and compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).

ResponsibilitiesConduct environmental monitoring of classified areas using active/passive air sampling methods and RODAC/swab surface sampling methods for bacteria and fungi detection.Utilize CliMet air sampling methods for total particulates detection and trend this data to identify anomalies and characterize microflora.Test city water, pre-treat water, clean steam, and Water for Injection for microbial count and endotoxins presence.Test nitrogen and process air for microbial count and total particulates.Identify microorganisms using classical microbiological methods.Perform validation activities such as biological indicator recovery, bioburden rinse/swab, endotoxin rinse, and endotoxin challenge vial testing.Analyze data and enter results into software systems like Microbiology Information Management Systems (MIMS).Document test results and conclusions in a GMP-compliant manner and ensure test forms are complete before submission for approval.Adhere to all company safety, health, and environmental policies, procedures, and directives.Conduct all laboratory activities safely by using MSDS to establish chemical hazards, observing appropriate laboratory procedures, and reporting all incidents that could threaten laboratory personnel safety.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in microbiology, biological sciences, or a related field of study.Minimum of 1-year experience in clinical, academic, or industrial/pharmaceutical microbiology laboratories.Experience in microbiological assays and testing.Proficiency in Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Excellent organizational and leadership skills.Experience with spreadsheets and databases.Ability to use a respirator.Ability to work with microorganisms and hot liquids.Additional Skills & QualificationsDesired experience in environmental monitoring and trending.Desired experience in the testing of utilities.Must have interpersonal skills and be team-oriented.Must want longevity with the company and be able to explain why.Experience with SOPs and documentation.Work Environment

This position is based in a pharmaceutical lab with a cleanroom environment. The role is team-oriented and requires working a shift from 3 PM to 12 AM (1500-0000), totaling 40 hours per week. The company is committed to promoting within and providing streamlined training, which can take 60-90 days, covering different testing methods.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $29.00/hr.
