Microelectronics Operations Engineer

Job Description Summary:

Draper fabricates microelectronic systems using a variety of processing technologies at the Advanced Packaging Facility in St. Petersburg, FL. The work is conducted in state of the art clean rooms. The ideal candidate will support the delivery of high reliability electronic components to end customers by responding to, and fully supporting, production activities.

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities

• Identify yield or production issues and/or opportunities for optimization.  When issues arise, candidate must be capable or running investigation teams using organized problem solving methods (i.e. 5 Whys, Ishikawa, etc.)

• Manage WIP in a technical setting using including Engineering Resource Planning tools.

• Coordinate with supply chain, facilities, and other salient roles to ensure material readiness for continuous production; point person for communication with stakeholders.

• Working closely with programmatic and technical management to manage Work in Progress (WIP), work flow in the fabrication facility.

- This includes interacting with process engineering staff as well as supply chain, security, information systems, quality engineering staff, and other support functions.

- The role involves directing process technical staff (engineering and technicians) to meet production schedules, update priorities and optimize work flow.

• Day to day management and communication of factory output to internal and external stakeholders.

Skills/Abilities

• Possess excellent organization, prioritization, and written/oral communication skills.

• Ability to brief both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Display good interpersonal skills required to communicate clearly with internal team and customers; experience as area lead or supervisor.

• Be self-motivated, able to adapt to changing priorities and must thrive in a multidisciplinary team environment.

• Ability to project, budget, and track small scale projects.

Education

Requires bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related Engineering field.

Experience

• 3-5 years experience in a relevant role is required.

• Experience in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices and statistical process control is preferred.
