As a Microsoft Enterprise Search Design Engineer in Enterprise Platforms, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our digital initiatives within our agile organization by designing and delivering innovative, enterprise-grade search solutions focused on Microsoft Enterprise Search technologies. This role exists to architect and optimize search capabilities across Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and Azure platforms, enabling seamless information discovery and driving business value through technical expertise and stakeholder collaboration, with a specific emphasis on Microsoft’s search ecosystem given the organization’s current strategic direction. In this role, you will design, develop, deploy, and optimize enterprise search applications, leveraging over 7 years of experience and a deep understanding of Microsoft Search, SharePoint Search, Azure Cognitive Search, and related M365 tools to meet organizational needs. You will work directly with stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable Microsoft-focused search solutions, multitask across projects, mentor team members, and stay ahead of technological advancements, making this position critical for transformative digital impact within Microsoft-centric framework. Responsibilities:
Design, develop and deploy advanced enterprise search solutions using Microsoft Search, SharePoint Online Search, Azure Cognitive Search, and Microsoft Graph, ensuring scalability, relevance, and performance, with a focus on aligning with the organization’s Microsoft Enterprise Search direction. Conduct business analyses by engaging directly with stakeholders to understand search-related challenges. Configure and customize SharePoint Online search components (e.g., search schemas, managed properties, query rules) and integrate Microsoft Search connectors to enhance content discoverability and user productivity. Build and integrate sophisticated search applications using Azure Cognitive Search for AI-driven capabilities (e.g., NLP, entity recognition), Microsoft Graph for M365 data retrieval, and custom APIs for external system integration, leveraging insights from other search platforms (e.g., Elasticsearch, Solr) as applicable. Integrate search solutions with external systems (e.g., CRM, ERP) using Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps, and custom development as needed. Provide expert-level technical support for Microsoft Search, SharePoint Search, Azure Cognitive Search, and related tools, resolving issues with business users, delivery teams, external agencies, and vendors, applying broader search platform knowledge where beneficial. Drive tool adoption by evangelizing Microsoft search platform capabilities, conducting training sessions, and mentoring power users and team members on leveraging search features effectively. Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and code reviews to junior engineers, fostering their growth and ensuring high-quality deliverables within the Microsoft search framework. Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Regularly monitor search performance (e.g., query latency, indexing efficiency) using Azure Monitor and SharePoint analytics, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to enhance user experience, drawing on best practices from other search platforms as a plus. Security & Compliance: Ensure search solutions are secure and compliant with enterprise standards, integrating Microsoft Purview for data governance and managing identity/access via Azure Active Directory; maintain related documentation. Data Reporting: Work with reporting platforms (e.g., Power BI) to summarize search usage and performance data maintained in the system. Initiative Execution: Actively contribute to Microsoft search-focused initiatives, applying specialized skills to achieve the objectives and expected Value. Contribute to the ongoing realization of Value from these enterprise platforms through continuous integration and deployment. Collaboration and mentorship: Work collaboratively with team members within the subdivision and across other digital and business units and mentor and guide junior developers and team members.
