Summary
Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) Transport Nurse is responsible for providing high level care in a resourceful and efficient manner that aligns with the Samaritan Program standards. Collaborates with Paramedic partner to provide supportive and resuscitative care to acutely ill or injured patients in and/or out of the hospital during transport. Follows established hospital and departmental policies and procedures, American Nurse Association Standards of Clinical Practice, Indiana Nurse Practice Act, and the ANA Code of Ethics. Responsible for maintaining compliance with CAMTS requirements and all associated documentation.
Education
Requires a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Licensure/Certification
Valid Indiana Registered Nurse license required. Must have current CPR certification. CEN, CCRN, RNC, CFRN, or CTRN required within 2 years of hire/transfer (current employees as of 7/24/16 will have until 7/24/18 to obtain.) NRP required within 2 years of hire/transfer (current employees as of 7/24/16 will have until 7/24/18 to obtain.) Must be certified BLS and ACLS. Must obtain PHTLS, BTLS or ITLS within one year of employment. Must have PALS or PEPP within one year of employment.
Experience
Must have minimum of 3 years of critical care/ED experience.
Other Qualifications
Must have good verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to lift 50 pounds, assist with 100 pounds. Lifting requirements may be heavier for specified departments.
