Mid-Level Archaeologist - Salt Lake City, UT

The Opportunity:

Tetra Tech's Salt Lake City office is seeking a Mid-Level Archaeologist to join our high-performing team to assist in our continued provision of top-of-the-line client services. Tetra Tech provides diverse opportunities for training and advancement while working on interesting projects in multiple market segments across the Intermountain West. Our Salt Lake City-based team is growing to meet the region’s high demand for cultural resource support services and we’re looking to meet the demand.

The position will require working with field work leads in teams of varying size depending on the cultural resource project. The position requires project related travel that will range in duration from eight-days on/six-days off sessions to shorter time periods and day trips depending on project location and scale. For overnight travel, crew members will receive per diem based on current GSA rates for the area and paid single occupancy hotel room. Potential projects include, but is not limited to field inventory, monitoring, evaluative testing, visual resource assessment, and site mitigation for the prehistoric and historic cultural resources common in the Intermountain West region. When not doing field work, office based work will include field preparation, file searches, site form production, and technical reporting.

Your Role:

Project health and safety compliance during field work. Working with crew lead to do field work including conducting pedestrian inventory and construction monitoring. Pedestrian survey during varying weather conditions for 10-hour a day. Assist in documentation of cultural resources, evaluative testing, and NRHP evaluations. Office-based work will include file searches, site form production, and report production. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Archeology and/or Anthropology is required. Candidate must have attended an archaeological field school. Education and field school with a focus on North American archaeology is a plus. 3 – 8 years of relevant experience. Prior cultural resource management experience and current residence within the state of Utah are a plus. Ability to travel and perform field work (approx. 75%-100% of travel required). Ability to lift and/or move up to 45 lbs. Ability to walk over open / rugged terrain outdoors for long periods regardless of weather conditions. Familiarity with related GPS systems (Trimble, ArcMap/FieldMaps) is a plus. A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required. Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
