Position Overview:
Boeing Defense Space & Security has an exciting opportunity for a mid-level Hardware Design Engineer to join our Laboratory Hardware Integration (LHE) team supporting ISS Systems Integration in Houston, TX.
The candidate will support and lead development and sustaining engineering projects for Test Support Equipment (TSE) design and maintenance as well as system level lab development. This includes sustaining engineering as well as upgrades of large test rigs for the ISS spacecraft command and data handling systems, as well as dedicated TSE for ISS flight software and subsystem integration, including ISS Power Systems and high fidelity hardware-in-the-loop testing equipment.
The selected candidate will conduct design trade studies, develop design solutions for customized and automated test systems including computer-based solutions, various bus platforms and cable harness design to turn-key, rack-based solutions.
Tasks will include make-buy decisions, working closely with software development teams, maintaining supplier technical interfaces, providing manufacturing liaison for lab HW upgrades and supporting qualification efforts, providing technical assistance for hardware/software integration, deployment into the field, training and troubleshooting. Responsibilities will include evaluation of field failure data and capturing opportunities to implement product improvement changes. Candidate will support root cause and corrective action activities with component suppliers and lead change implementation to implement reliability improvements.
Position Responsibilities:
Work with customers to develop and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements.
Coordinates work to analyze and translate requirements into system architecture, hardware and software designs and interface specifications.
Test and validate to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements.
Oversees the team that monitors supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements.
Troubleshoots and resolves problems of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle.
Researches technology advances for potential application to company business needs.
Makes recommendations for process improvements and technology investments.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
5+ years of experience with Test Support Equipment design and operations
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience working on NASA program environment
Experience with mechanical design of laboratory-type test racks
Experience in lab development and test automation
Advanced knowledge of electrical circuits, evaluate lab component field performance date, to troubleshoot electronic circuit boards on signal level
Systems engineering knowledge and application of simulation and lab technologies and products

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range: $102,850 - $139,150
