SLC works on behalf of clients to support utility-scale solar, wind, battery energy storage, thermal power, and other power and infrastructure projects. We evaluate and optimize technical, commercial, environmental, social responsibility, and financial aspects of the projects for a variety of clients.

This position will require you to perform structural engineering reviews and analyses in order to understand power projects and distill technical expertise into actionable information that project stakeholders rely on to prudently develop, design, construct, operate, and finance renewable energy projects being built in the United States and overseas. You will work with multi-discipline project teams to provide a variety of services, such as the following:

Perform structural engineering reviewsPrepare structural design specificationsPrepare and review finite element models (i.e. SAP2000, ANSYS) and supporting calculations, including seismic and fatigue analysis. Advise power project developers to support new utility-scale solar, wind, battery energy storage, thermal, and other projects;Evaluate new power and infrastructure projects independently to support financing Develop technical reports for applicable audiences – including owners, developers, governmental agencies and committees, and financiers Qualifications

Essential skills and experience: 

This position requires a Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering with a structural specialty. A Master’s degree in civil/structural engineering or business (e.g., MBA) discipline is a plus.4+ years of detailed structural design, including mass concrete, steel, piles, shallow and deep foundations, lattice structure, or substation structural design3+ years of experience working in design of power, transmission, or other heavy industry projects. Experience in writing and providing support documentation for Structural Engineering specifications or calculations.Experience in Finite Element Modeling– specifically SAP2000, ANSYS, LPILE, STAAD, etc. Ability to work in a team environmentExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical evaluation report writing

Valued but not required skills and experience:

Professional Engineering (PE) or Structural Engineering (SE) licenseExperience specific to wind turbine generation and/or solar PV designTechnical evaluation report writingExperience with steel and concrete fatigue designExperience with design of foundations in unique subsurface conditions (i.e. karst, high groundwater, potential for liquefaction)Multi-discipline teamwork (i.e. design projects, co-ops)Data analysis and visualizationProject finance or business acumenConceptual project designConstruction project management and/or scheduling software knowledgeSolid interpersonal skills and ability to work with and guide othersProject planning, leadership, and organizational skills
