POWER Engineers is seeking a Mid-Level Substation Design Engineer with experience in substation design. This position is in the Power Delivery Substation Department of our San Diego, California office. Flexibility is available to work remotely and/or in the office. Remote employees may travel to a POWER office for periodic meetings.
ResponsibilitiesPerform and direct others in the detailed design of medium to extra high voltage utility substationsOne-line diagrams, elementary and wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, substation physical layouts, selection of substation equipment, writing of substation equipment specifications, proposal development, construction cost estimates, and project schedulingOccasional travel will be requiredRequired Education/ExperienceAbility to function as a Mid-Level Substation Design Engineer for our San Diego officeBSEE (BS Electrical Engineering) or BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology) degree, from an accredited university preferably with a power optionExperience in 15kV through 230kV substation design and IEEE/ANSI standardsExperience in managing small project teamsExperience filling the role of substation design engineer for several projects occurring concurrentlyEngineer in Training (EIT) or passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examStrong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel.Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.Desired Education/ExperienceFive (5) or more years experience in utility substation design as outlined aboveExperience in 345kV through 500kV substation designProfessional Engineering license (PE)Managerial and leadership skills a plusAt POWER Engineers, you can have a rewarding career on every level. Base Salary Range: $75,000 - $95,000
The range for this position is being displayed in compliance with all state and local regulations. Salaries are set based on a number of factors to include an individual's job related knowledge, skills, experience and education. This means that no two candidates are alike. The range provided above does not include additional compensation such as bonus, health benefits, vacation, 401(k) match, etc.
