SMX is seeking a Systems Administrators to support enterprise infrastructure operations for a federal law enforcement agency. In this role, you’ll manage and maintain critical application environments across Windows and Linux systems, support system deployments, troubleshoot complex issues, and implement automation to streamline operations. This is a hands-on role ideal for professionals who bring a mix of scripting, systems knowledge, and a mission-first mindset to help maintain the security, availability, and performance of systems that support law enforcement operations nationwide. This is a hybrid role supporting a Clarksburg, WV customer and requires a Top-Secret clearance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Install, configure, patch, and maintain Windows and Linux systems across production and test environments. Support system monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting to ensure availability and responsiveness. Assist in database operations, including backup, restoration, and integration tasks. Utilize scripting and automation tools to streamline repetitive tasks and increase system reliability. Follow established change management and documentation practices using Jira, Confluence, and related tools. Collaborate with development, network, and security teams to support application deployments and infrastructure upgrades. Apply basic security best practices to protect systems and support compliance initiatives. Respond to help desk tickets, resolve technical issues, and support on-call rotation as needed.Required Skills / Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience with Windows and/or Linux operating systems. Proficient in troubleshooting networks, applications, and infrastructure issues. Experience with system monitoring, patching, and application deployment tools. Familiarity with database management practices and basic scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash). Understanding of application architecture and system design fundamentals. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the ability to work independently and within a team. Experience working in an Agile environment using Scrum, XP, Kanban, and SAFe. Active Top-Secret clearance.Desired Skills / Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field. Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, containerization, or virtualization technologies (e.g., AWS, VMware, Docker). Exposure to infrastructure-as-code or automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform).

The proposed salary for this position is:$66,300—$110,500 USD
