Rye Country Day School is seeking a Middle and Upper School Dance Teacher to join the faculty beginning in August 2025. Specific responsibilities include: + Choreograph the Middle School Integrated Performing Arts Musical + Teach Dance 1, 2, and 3 in the Upper School and 1 spring elective in the Middle School + Teach fall, winter, and spring 7/8 Middle School PE Dance classes + Teach fall and spring Upper School PE Dance classes + Teach and choreograph fall, winter, and spring Cedar Street Dance Company + Advise Dance with a Purpose club and direct the Winter Choreography Showcase + Direct and choreograph the Middle and Upper School Spring Dance Performance + Curate and organize the annual Strong Family Dance Concert + Communicate and collaborate effectively with students, colleagues and families + Maintain an optimal work environment that ensures students’ safety and well-being + Regularly write student reports + Utilize technology in classroom, as appropriate + Attend Drama and Dance department meetings, including production meetings, and division meetings when possible Desired Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in Dance and/or Dance Education required; Masters degree or higher preferred + 3-5 years of experience teaching dance including ballet, jazz, modern/contemporary technique, and musical theater + Excitement for working with Upper School and Middle School students + Excellent oral, written, presentation, choreography, and teaching skills + Comfort with technology including a 1:1 laptop program and online course management system + A well-developed sensitivity, knowledge, and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community members; a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion + Excellent organizational skills + Ability to continue a dynamic, innovative, and collaborative dance program RCDS seeks faculty and staff who support our mission to foster a lifelong passion for learning, understanding, and service in an ever-changing world, and who share our commitment to creating and sustaining a vibrant, thriving, and inclusive multicultural learning community.
