Midlands Regional Account Leader

 

We are looking for someone with a passion for client engagement, customer experience and work winning. We are looking for a transportation professional from any sector (planning, road, bus, active travel etc) with an established network of clients in the Midlands region and experience across a broad client group.

 

In your role for The Transport and Mobility Solutions (TMS) Division you will build and maintain close relationships with clients in the Midlands, providing a strong pipeline, building a client centric experience, and winning great work. Your role will focus on National Government, selected Local Authorities, private sector infrastructure providers and selected contractors. 

 

It is important to note that you could be providing a service to all clients within the region and not just one portfolio. You will be accountable for winning great work, growing the account to maximise opportunities for Mott MacDonald, sales, conversion to revenue and margin performance, as well as client satisfaction within the region.

 

You will help in the coordination of client engagement and bidding activities across Mott MacDonald to bring the best outcomes for our clients and ourselves, developing strong collaborative relationships with other Units and Divisions, whether leading or supporting on client relationships and work winning.

 

As a member of our team, you will be expected to support our projects in a variety of capacities, including in planning and designer capacities as project principal, project manager or technical lead and provide support to research studies and innovation projects, including Net Zero and digital delivery.

Following our continued growth and wider success in winning major projects across the UK and overseas, we are looking for a Midlands Regional Account Leader to join our transport planning, public transport, modelling, fore sighting, transport technology and highways team.
This role will be based out of our Birmingham office. 
This is an exciting opportunity to not only take a major role in developing and growing our vibrant multi-sector team but to shape our offering and strategy for an important growth market, contributing to achieving a high performing shared enterprise with our partners. 

 

You will be responsible for engaging with targeted clients in the region and coordinating with appropriate teams and counterparts in other units within Mott MacDonald to share intelligence, support the bids of other Units where TMS skills are required and to engage the skills of other Units where they are needed for a TMS bid.  From time to time you will be required to lead bids for your clients amongst your other duties.

 

Your responsibilities will also include:
•    Developing and executing the strategy for the Regional Account including identifying “where to play”, “how to win” choices with support from the relevant Principal Account Leaders;
•    Developing and delivering a Client Engagement Plan;
•    Continually reviewing our choices against performance and market changes;
•    Developing strong and robust client relationships;
•    Growing and developing selected Accounts within the Division in response to the Divisional and Unit Business Plan and Group strategy;
•    Meeting sales targets in line with the Business Plan;
•    Coordination with key teams in the Division, and with other Units and Divisions;
•    Assessment and prioritisation of opportunities with Principal/Account Leads;
•    Supporting members of the team with their technical and professional development;
•    Implementing digital technology to increase delivery efficiency or enhance project outcomes; 
•    Supporting the development of bids to increase the pipeline of work, ensuring bids are technically and commercially sound; and
•    You can be expected to lead your discipline and a team in delivery, plus take a client-facing role in technical discussion.

 

The successful candidate will be proactive, enthusiastic and passionate about client engagement, customer experience, work winning and delivering great transport solutions that drive robust social outcomes.  
Essential academic, professional qualifications and experience:
•    Demonstrable experience in work winning across a broad client group, such as private sector clients, contractors, local authorities and national government;
•    Demonstrable experience in client account management;
•    An established network of industry relationships in the region; 
•    Demonstrable understanding of wider planning and technical requirements, with a deeper knowledge and skill in either transport planning or engineering design;  
•    You will have demonstrable experience leading teams in your discipline and engaging with clients; and
•    Transport Planning or Civil Engineering degree or equivalent.

 

Essential competencies / skills:


•    High standard of verbal and written communications and willingness to engage and communicate with clients and colleagues - a collaborative approach is essential;
•    Ability to see the bigger picture and strategies and to see delivery through to successful project completion;
•    Strong interpersonal / people skills; and
•    Ability to travel throughout UK


Desirable academic, qualifications, experience, competencies and skills:
•    Broader competencies that could add value to your role, such as a commercial understanding of pricing in the market
•    Good understanding of Net Zero, sustainability and carbon.
•    Chartered Engineer status or equivalent.
