Migration Architect
The Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Migration Architect with deep expertise in the telecom domain to lead data migration efforts for complex telecom infrastructure projects. This role will involve designing and executing data migration strategies for the transition of data across multiple platforms and systems, ensuring data quality, security, and compliance throughout the migration process. As a Migration Architect, you will be responsible for developing a robust migration plan, selecting the right tools and technologies, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring the successful execution of migration with minimal impact on business operations.
Responsibilities:
· Lead the creation of data migration strategies and roadmaps for migrating data across legacy and new telecom platforms, including core telecom systems, billing, customer management, and network management systems.
· Collaborate with business stakeholders, data owners, and IT teams to define data migration objectives, timelines, and scope.
· Assess current data structures, data quality, and integration requirements to develop migration strategies that optimize performance and minimize disruption.
· Design scalable and efficient data migration architectures to handle large volumes of telecom data, ensuring data consistency, integrity, and security.
· Develop detailed migration plans, specifying data sources, mapping rules, transformations, validation processes, and tools.
· Design the appropriate data migration tools, technologies, and platforms (ETL, database replication, cloud storage, etc.).
· Integrate data migration strategies with other aspects of the telecom system (e.g., CRM, ERP, BSS/OSS).
· Ensure compliance with telecom industry regulations, including data privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA) and telecom-specific standards.
· Define and enforce data governance policies related to the migration process, including data quality standards, security measures, and audit trails.
· Work with legal and compliance teams to address any data retention or transfer requirements.
· Oversee the execution of data migration processes, ensuring that data is accurately transferred, transformed, and validated according to plan.
· Collaborate with technical teams to test and validate the integrity of migrated data and ensure compatibility with target systems.
· Monitor the data migration process in real-time, identifying potential issues and providing solutions to ensure timely and accurate delivery.
· Identify and assess risks associated with data migration, including data loss, corruption, downtime, and business impact.
· Implement strategies to mitigate migration risks, such as rollback plans, incremental migrations, and validation checkpoints.
· Serve as the primary point of contact for data migration-related activities and status updates.
· Regularly communicate progress, challenges, and risks to senior leadership and other stakeholders.
· Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including data migration strategies, data mappings, transformation rules, and test cases.
· Generate post-migration reports outlining success metrics, issues encountered, and lessons learned.
· Conduct post-migration validation to ensure that data is properly integrated and accessible within the new systems.
· Address any data issues post-migration, such as inconsistencies, missing data, or performance bottlenecks.
Qualifications
· Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
· Strong leadership and decision-making capabilities, with the ability to motivate teams and drive results.
Proficiency in data migration tools and platforms (e.g., Informatica, Talend, or cloud-based migration tools like AWS Data Pipeline, Azure Data Factory, etc.). Experience with telecom data systems and formats, including data from billing platforms, network operation systems, CRM systems, and operational databases. Strong understanding of relational databases (SQL, Oracle), NoSQL databases, database objects and data warehousing concepts. Expertise in cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and data storage solutions. Familiarity with data security protocols, encryption, and privacy regulations in the telecom sector. Proven experience in leading data migration projects within the telecom industry, particularly in areas such as BSS/OSS, CRM, billing, and network management systems. Having experience in Oracle BRM is a plus Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels. Ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams through complex data migration projects. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills Critical thinking, problem-solving, and conflict resolution abilities. Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities in fast-paced environments. Experience with project management methodologies such as Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid.Keywords:
