This position at DHSS will be responsible for Migration of Applications into Production, Test and other environments as well as troubleshooting and supporting the Application server environment and Mainframe components for a large project.
Complete Description:
This position at DHSS will be responsible for Migration of Applications into Production, Test and other environments as well as troubleshooting and supporting the Application server environment and Mainframe components for a large project. The candidate should possess a thorough understanding Migrating Powerbuilder applications to a Windows environment as well as migration of Mainframe components (IE: COBOL,z/Services,etc..) Experience in migrating Multi-tiered Windows and browser based application is required. Experience with Serena Changeman is also highly desired. The candidate will work closely with the DHSS Base Technology and DSS Applications team.
Years of Relevant Experience: 5 years in software development/deployment and testing
Preferred Education: 4 year college degree or equivalent technical study.
Role Description:
All roles specified in SPS1 plus the following:
•Facilitate the implementation of standard software engineering processes across agencies.
•Determine time estimates and schedule for own work and resolve issues on a timely basis.
•Identify and track issues, risks and action items.
•Determine process to support various initiatives.
•Lead the development of content for process training and deliver process training as appropriate.
•Coordinate with various teams about process improvement opportunities.
•Anticipate and resolve issues specific to the team.
•Determine time estimates and schedule for own work and resolve issues in a timely manner.
•Identify and track issues, risks and action items.
• Experience Migrating, configuring and troubleshooting in a Windows 2003r2 or higher environment.
• A solid understanding of Deploying application in a Multi-tiered Application environment
• Experience with Microsoft Team Foundation Server
• An understanding of firewall concepts.
• Work hours are 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM Monday to Friday.
• May need to travel within the State of Delaware at their expense.
• Ability to flex schedule or work overtime as work load dictates.
• Should possess strong organizational and management skills and be able to apply them while working on a large complex technical assignment.
• Must be able to communicate effectively both written and verbally.
• Must be able to work with a team but also take initiative on their own.
• Proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Visio.
• Regards documentation of a system a must.
This may turn into a State funded position July 2013.
