Department Summary
West 2 is a 22 bed acute care for Adults ages 19-55 in a behavioral health unit. The unit is dedicated to providing exceptional care to people in our community with mental health and substance abuse illness. We established a philosophy of caring for patients who need mental health services with kindness, respect and dignity, while we provide them with a supportive environment and treatment to help them heal. Our program is dedicated to depression, bipolar disorders, post-traumatic stress disorders, substance abuse and psychotic diagnoses. Our primary objective is to help our patients to get better so they can live better lives.
Job Purpose
The Milieu Counselor is a member of the multidisciplinary team who, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, is responsible for a safe and structured service, as well as attending to the individual needs of patients in crisis in an inpatient psychiatric setting.
The Milieu Counselor performs safety checks, is assigned groups, interacts 1:1 with patients as needed, and is able to de-escalate aggressive patients.
Qualifications/Experience:
High School graduate or GED required.
Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required.
1 year previous mental health experience in a Psych locked unit strongly preferred.
**Sign-On Bonus:**
**$5K for 32 - 40 hours per week.**
**$3K for 16 -24 hours per week.**
All newly hired candidates must successfully complete a job specific physical agility test.
