Reporting to the Mill Maintenance Supervisor, the apprentice will install, maintain, dismantle and overhaul machinery, such as heavy mechanical equipment, conveyor systems, pulleys, mechanical clutches, gear boxes, hydraulic and pneumatic control systems.

Responsibilities: Establish basic understanding of Mechanical components such as heavy stationary mechanical equipment, conveyor systems, pulleys, mechanical clutches, gear boxes, hydraulic and pneumatic control systems By assisting Journeyperson(s) become familiar with Industrial Mechanics to include assembling, installing, repairing and dismantlement of mill equipment Learn various processes of machinery repair, welding, alignment of shafts, pump rebuilds and fabricating Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained and kept in a clean and orderly condition Demonstrate your willingness to learn and advance in the Millwright Apprentice program by adhering to instructions Communicate effectively with other trade personnel, colleague and supervisor about assigned tasks and ensuring carryover and updates of completed tasks throughout the shift Display comprehension of environmental risks and hazards. Follow safety policies and procedures (MSHA and Red Dog EMS training). Conduct daily workplace inspections for accurate identification and resolution of hazards Ensure compliance with all established policies and standard operating procedures and advises coworkers and visitors of such policies and procedures as required Perform other related duties as assigned Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent Acquired training at a technical school such as ATC and/or obtained 6 months related work experience  Able to adhere to high safety standards Able to work day, afternoon, or night shifts as required Be a teammate and able to communicate well with others Be highly motivated and have ability to perform tasks with limited direction Able to work outdoors with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions Able to perform labor intensive work when required Capable of carrying out instructions accurately Ability to obtain a valid driver license is desirable A desire to advance to higher levels in the competency development system by training and becoming proficient at specific tasks and duties in the Millwright Apprentice About Teck Alaska Incorporated, Red Dog Operations
