GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Under general supervision of a road crew, performs a variety of manual or semiskilled tasks related to road building and maintenance of road building equipment and facilities. DUTIES \ RESPONSIBILITES: + Inspect and maintain a safe working zone around the milling machine while in operation + Effectively control and maintain the grade control system on the milling machine to leave a smooth, uniform surface that is planed to the correct depth or slope. + Inspect milling pattern throughout the day to anticipate when teeth need to be spotted or changed to avoid damage to holders or drum + Assist Operator with daily inspection, cleaning and maintenance of milling machine + Work productively and safely to meet production goals + Assist with any cleaning, handwork or additional needs as necessary to get the job done + Able to work various shifts (Day/Night), overtime and weekends. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: + The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects + The ability to lift and carry heavy loads on a day to day basis; + The ability to understand and carry out verbal and or written directions paying attention to detail + The ability to stand for long periods of time.
