Pay Rate: $30-$34/hour + OT after 8 hours, DT on Sundays
Per Diem: $155/day for hotel & food, or $65 for food only (for contractors living more than 50 miles from the work site)
Schedule: 7 days/week, up to 12 hours/day (Shifts: Day & Night Available)
About the Role:
Looking for a hands-on, rewarding career in the industrial maintenance field? As a Millwright with PDS Tech Commercial, you'll be the backbone of crucial maintenance and installation projects. Specializing in pulp and paper mills, you’ll work directly with equipment and machinery to ensure everything runs smoothly. Your expertise will make a direct impact, supporting safe, efficient operations while working with top-tier professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance & Installation: Read and interpret blueprints and specifications for the maintenance and installation of equipment. Choose appropriate tooling and parts for each task.
Precision & Accuracy: Operate power tools and precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, laser alignment tools, and grinders, to install, repair, and align components.
Assembly & Inspection: Install and replace packing, seals, gaskets, and bearings (1” to 15”). Rebuild and install gearboxes, ensuring all systems meet quality standards.
Collaborative Work: Work alongside fitters, welders, and riggers to complete projects on time and maintain quality workmanship.
Safety Focused: Follow all safety protocols, wear personal protective equipment (PPE), and adhere to Valmet Inc.'s Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) directives.
Travel & Flexibility: This role may require up to 100% travel with 7-day workweeks and 12-hour shifts, so flexibility is essential.
What We’re Looking For:
Required Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 4 to 6 years as a millwright or industrial mechanic.
Tool Proficiency: Skilled in using electrical/manual tools (grinders, impact wrenches, torque wrenches, etc.) and precision measuring instruments (micrometers, laser alignments, calipers).
Bearing Installation: Experience with installing interference fit bearings using bearing heaters, hydraulic nuts, and taper lock bearings.
Welding & Rigging: Familiarity with welding processes, cutting torches, and rigging practices.
Technical Expertise: Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
Physical Demands: Ability to lift 50 lbs or more, work in heat-intensive environments, climb stairs, access confined spaces, and work at elevated levels.
Certifications: Professional certifications (e.g., Apprenticeship, welding certifications, OSHA 10) are a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in pulp and paper mills or similar industrial environments.
