With this information available, technology solutions can be more quickly identified and transitioned to the U.S. government. Work on the FullStack team involves both the front and backends, creating new features while ensuring security. The individual in this position will have the opportunity to work on all parts of the professional, web-based application used by clients around the country, as well as other possible software technologies as project needs arise. Duties and Responsibilities The MilTech Technology Application Developer will support the Virtual Industry Day (VID) platform development and functionality, as well as other MilTech-assisted project needs, including, but not limited to the following tasks:
Develop strategies and action plans with VID lead programmers and other team members based on project requirements, and execute on project action plan items. Work with the software development team to develop VID functionality and improve VID capabilities within the needs of MilTech’s Department of Defense (DOD) customers; identify problems within the VID platform. Attend Stand-up and Sprint meetings. Use modern web frameworks and best practices, build reusable code and libraries for future use. Connect frontend to backend services. Write unit, integration, and functional tests. Assist in the creation, deployment, and management of services, and collaborate on architectural decisions involving services. Actively research to stay current and suggest new ideas for consideration. Effectively collaborate and support work of other VID team members, including student employees. Comply at all times with the MilTech Confidentiality Agreement governing non-disclosure of information encountered in the course of your duties, and the MilTech Technology Control Plan. Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills Bachelor’s degree in computer science or closely-related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Demonstrated experience using frontend web development frameworks including JavaScript, React (or similar), and CSS to create interactive browser-based applications. Demonstrated experience using backend web development frameworks including NodeJS or similar. Demonstrated experience using database systems such as MySQL or other SQL based databases. Demonstrated experience using version control tools including Git, Gitlab, Github, or similar.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills Experience using React as a frontend framework. Experience using ExpressJS in a microservice based architecture. Experience architecting and deploying a production Kubernetes environment. Experience using Gitlab pipelines or another CI/CD pipeline framework. Experience working with and developing infrastructure in a modern cloud environment (AWS, GCE, Azure, etc.). Knowledge of and experience with common web protocols such as HTTP, SMTP, UDP, TCP, etc., and relevant coding languages and tools such as Gitlab, Kubernetes, Docker, etc. Experience with U.S. government regulatory controls and frameworks (NIST, FEDRAMP, DISA, STIG’s, etc.). Demonstrated experience with requirements gathering, development, testing, deployment, documentation, and maintenance of software built on web-based technologies. The Successful Candidate Will Represent MilTech and its programs to clients, internal, and external personnel in a professional and courteous manner. Adapt quickly and effectively to changing priorities and requests. Effectively collaborate with MilTech, MSU, DOD, government, civilian, internal and external personnel to accomplish multiple operational goals, providing high quality and consistent customer service. Work effectively as a team member, communicating effectively orally and in writing, including public presentations. Work independently as needed, being self-motivated to identify, plan, organize, manage and execute projects while exercising sound judgment and decision-making skills. Exercise high levels of initiative, flexibility, and innovation to respond to the needs of a wide variety of clients and changing priorities. Position Special Requirements/Additional Information This position is contingent upon continued grant funding.
This position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD National Security Clearance and Common Access Card (CAC), and/or meet other government-defined restrictions appropriate for work level and access. Other security-related requirements will include receiving favorable background checks by state and federal agencies pursuant to federal law and regulations.
Successful candidate must be able to comply with the federally mandated requirements of U.S. export control laws, which may require proof that candidate is a U.S. person. Per 22 CFR §120.15, U.S. person means a person who is a lawful permanent resident as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(20) or who is a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
This position requires ability to travel via all modes of transport when necessary to interact with DOD and/or DHS customers, including travel throughout the Continental United States as well as Alaska, Hawaii, U.S territories and possessions, and possibly other worldwide locations.
