About This Role: To coordinate mine operations training programs and activities at the Akyem mine site.In This Role You Will:Health and Safety Management
Communicate all Health and Safety procedures and protocols to site services.Inspect site service equipment and locations to ensure compliance to Newmont Health and Safety standards.Accept personal responsibility for the health and safety of every employee under or assigned to his/her supervision.Abide by and support others in adhering to safe and efficient site service practices to prevent damage to equipment, structures and injury.Oversee that all contractors, including third party bussing and staff transport must comply with Newmont Light Vehicle and control standards.
Post Training Evaluation and Maintenance
Oversee the issuance of driving permits to drivers/operators who have demonstrated competency in the assessments.Administer operations training certifications (i.e. internally for Learning and Development and externally for MINCOM).Facilitate the issuance of Light Vehicle license certifications and conversions (i.e. expats).Verify the extent of prior learning or availability of assessment result documents, before signing off to proceed.Confirm that all training and assessment procedures are followed and all competencies; standards and/or regulations met before signing for the issue of certificate and permit.Evaluate trainer’s performance and develop Mine Operations trainers to impart the required technical skills and knowledge, in accordance with prescribed curriculum, programs and standards in Newmont.Oversee all training document controls by forwarding updated and changed content for review and approval by the Learning and Development Superintendent and uploading onto the system.Assure that training packages are delivered to uphold the safety standards of Newmont in the execution of maintenance work.Support the development of a continuous improvement culture to ensure training and development remains a top priority for improving operations work quality in the department.Record training data and oversee the effective storage of such records via electronic and hard copy means.Deliver training records to regulators; authorised persons or training bodies (i.e. MINCOM, DVLA, Event Investigation team) for auditing purposes.
Staff Supervision
Provide direct supervision to trainers and attend to any query escalations.Supervise training conducted through allocated staff by:prioritising and allocating tasks / responsibilities.checking and controlling the quality of facilitation.providing on-the-job training, mentoring, coaching and guidance to trainers.performing performance appraisals.recommending further / relevant training courses and development actions.disciplining poor performance or actions and enhancing communication with staff through regular feedback, contact, meetings and briefings.Training Execution
Coordinate and provide cost effective competency-based training and assessment programs delivered to Newmont and contractor employees to develop required skills and values.Oversee the planning, scheduling, implementation and reporting of traineeships, which include statutory certifications and Newmont’s’ mobile equipment licensing and permit program.Conduct both Technical and Competency based training for Mine Operations, Process Operations, Mine Maintenance, Supply Chain and all contractor personnel to enhance maintenance skills to meet equipment availability.Assess for Mine Operations staff competency.Support Mine Operations Department in the process of recruitment and auditing of the operations workforce to be appointed to the Mine Operations department.Coordinate both classroom and on-the-job practical scheduling and arrangement of Mine Operations training within the Mine Operations Department for both Apprentices and Business Partners.Implement both classroom and on-the-job practical training, in alignment with approved Training Business and Session plans.Implement local-local workforce recruitment and training.Coordinate the delivery of defensive driving training for Light Vehicle (LV) drivers at Akyem, Exploration sites, and the Accra office staff whenever required.Contract with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs—Caterpillar, SANDVIK, LIEBHERR SHOVELS & DIGGERS, EPIROC DRILL RIGS, Man Diesel Trucks), including immersive technologies, to conduct train-the-trainer courses to upskill trainers.Coordinate refresher training on topics, as required.Report to L&D Manager and Mine Operations management, as required.
Training Planning and Analysis
Contribute to the provision of an appropriately trained and skillful workforce for operations.Liaise with Mine Operations management in identifying the training needs of operations staff.Develop annual Training Business and Session Plans, as well as associated schedules, in consultation with the Mine Operations management team to make provision for ongoing and expected trainings.Conduct training needs analysis investigations on operations employees and create development plans for all operations staff in their current roles.Identify training needs through determining risk profiles and training matrices and request these from the relevant supervisors and / or managers.
Training Module Development
Research, plan, and develop training modules to meet training needs, as per the competencies required; schedule and socialise training sessions.Create scenarios using simulator control application software to train and assess Mine Operations personnel on simulators for production, safety and maintenance improvement programs.Contribute to the conceptualization, development and update of Mine Operations learning solutions.Oversee the review of all compiled training materials, prior to the start of training.Secure external vendor training, if required.Investigate the acquisition of training simulators to provide effective real-time operations training.Introduce and commission new simulator equipment into the site and develop standard operating procedures for its use.Schedule classes, OJTT, assessments and certifications to capacitate a trained and skillful workforce for the mining operations.Your Training, Skills and Experience Checklist:Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):

Minimum of 4 – 6 years’ generalised experience in Mine Operations, with previous facilitation experience, of which 2 – 3 years should be in a supervisory and / or coordinating capacity.Proficiency in multi-equipment operation.
