We need a Mine Planner to support our Operations and Business Development teams.  You will report to the Senior Advisor, Business & Sustainable Development.  Your role will involve providing technical direction to ensure efficient and sustainable ash extraction.  You will also help with future business development by creating and executing ash resource qualification plans as we expand our business geographically in Canada, the United States, and beyond. 

 

The position can be based anywhere in Alberta, but will require between 20% and 30% travel to various sites in Canada and the US.  Possession of a valid driver’s license and ability to travel to local and international project sites, for periods up to a week at a time is a necessity. 

 

What Else You Get To Do: 

Collaborate on the development of short-term mine plans  Develop and maintain long-term resource plans. Develop and refine geological models to accurately delineate ash quality parameters, guide mining operations and quantify ash resources. Analyze data to identify trends, potential risks, and opportunities for improvement in operations and resource management. Develop new strategies and techniques to enhance resource modeling and extraction effectiveness Provide input into the Operational and Quality Control program at new Ashcor facilities as they are brought into service. Define key ash quality parameters and delineate waste areas within ash deposits. Conduct resource estimations, update models based on new data and perform model reconciliation to ensure accuracy. Coordinate with the Operations team and mine contractor to ensure adherence to production plans and schedules. Work closely with the Ashcor Quality team to direct mining locations based on ash quality requirements Under the guidance of senior leadership, plan and execute exploration programs to gather geological data for both operational and business development needs. Maintain and report ash reserve volumes to relevant stakeholders.

 

Who You Are: 

Technical or bachelor’s degree in Mine Planning, Geology/Geological Engineering, Mine Engineering, Civil Engineering, or other related field operations 3 to 5+ years of relevant experience in the mining or civil engineering industry, with a focus on open-pit mining operations and geological, and/or resource planning/modeling Proficiency in geological modeling and resource estimation software (Leapfrog will be considered an asset) Understanding mine planning principles and practices Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time Excellent data analysis and problem-solving skills; able to develop new approaches to enhance processes that positively impact the business  Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively Ability and desire to travel in US & Canada Excellent communication skills with knowledge of MS office applications.
