**ABOUT THE ROLE**
The Mining Category Specialist position for North American Mining Procurement is responsible for maintaining, creating, and managing technical literature, training materials, and communications for all of Holcim’s North American Mining Operations.
The Mining Category Specialist promotes cross-functional implementation of best cost solutions, correct products, and should-cost modeling to help Holcim create and maintain the practice for the best products and suppliers for our North American Mining Operations.
**WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH**
+ Work as the Technical subject matter expert directly assisting the North American Mining Category Team in their strategic negotiation and implementation practices.
+ Work to ensure that models for price validations are accurate and kept up to date.
+ Act as a subject matter expert on Total Cost of Ownership model for Heavy Mobile Equipment and Should Cost Model for Drill & Blast and Outsourced Mining Activities to act as the subject matter expert and respond to Operations on technical questions.
+ Act as a subject matter expert on Drill and Blast processes, and work directly with Operations to determine gaps and optimize our procedure to deliver the best cost per blasted ton of materials.
+ Maintain a thorough understanding of current product requirements, adoptions, and changes.
+ Understand Holcim’s North American Mining strategic direction, and align activities and metrics to execute and deliver against them.
+ Create and update technical documents including guides, details, and other documents, in response to product or operational changes.
+ Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
+ Other duties as assigned.
**WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR**
**Education:** BS/BA in engineering or related field and 5 years relevant experience.
**Additional Education Preferred:** Master's degree.
**Required Work Experience:** 5 -7 years.
**Required Computer and Software Skills:** Proficient/Advanced skills in MS Office; specifically Excel and PPT, Google Mail & Drive. Basic SAP knowledge or equivalent.
**Travel Requirements:** Position will be primarily office-based in Dundee, MI using standard office technology, with business travel up to 50%.
**Additional Requirements:**
+ Strong domestic and international strategic sourcing expertise and problem-solving/analytical skills.
+ Costs/results focused.
+ Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate effectively at all levels, and with all functions.
+ Strong analytical and execution skills with an understanding of key cost drivers within the supply chains.
+ Excellent Category knowledge (markets, usage, TCO, etc.).
+ Sound knowledge of financial concepts (domestic and international), budget management, and cost reduction initiatives.
+ Strong technical aptitude, including Maintenance and Engineering services, CAPEX, Production Services, IFM (Integrated Facility Management), and Third-party services agreements.
+ Project management leadership skills and the ability to handle multiple projects at the same time.
+ Ability to work independently in a dynamic, ambiguous, and newly forming organization.
+ Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
