About the Role

This leadership and technical role within the PDM Mine Planning team is responsible for the design and delivery of the Peak Downs mine design. Key responsibilities include future planning and strategy for upcoming strips across the site, optimisation of the current mine plan, and providing advanced guidance to the schedule. Utilize your design and leadership skills to set a clear direction for the future design path of Peak Downs Mine.

 

This role is based at Peak Downs Mine, Central Queensland, operating on a 4/3 roster with FIFO (Fly-In Fly-Out), DIDO (Drive-In Drive-Out), or Residential options available.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need a tertiary qualification in mining engineering or extensive experience in the field, particularly in open cut coal mining operations. You will possess:

 

A strong commitment to safety leadership. Over 5 years of experience in areas such as scheduling, haulage, drill & blast, truck stripping, dragline & dozer push design, or coal production planning. Advanced skills and knowledge in open cut mining, scheduling theory and concepts, product supply chain, operations, and field management. Proven experience and knowledge in mine planning processes and tasks, with the ability to provide inputs and guidance into design and the mine production schedule. Proficiency with mine design and scheduling software packages, including SPRY, Vulcan, and Deswik CAD. Complex problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and presentation skills.

 

Your strong communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to collaborate effectively with various operational and functional teams to deliver a safe and stable mine plan aligned with the site and business direction. You will leverage BHP Operating Systems to lead mine planning improvement initiatives, build and maintain trusted relationships across departments, and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
