Heidelberg Materials is seeking a Mining Engineer Performance Improvement Intern to join our team in Raleigh, NC. As a Performance Improvement Intern you will participate in a program in mining planning and design to provide students with work experience that is relevant to their major and compliments their education.

What You'll Get To Do:Working directly with the Continuous Improvement Manager and team to assist with the enhancement of the technical competence and operational excellence of the organizationResponsible for collaborating with our operations on improvement processes and best practicesAssist with the development of improvement opportunities through attending performance improvement visits, studying downtime events and root cause analysis, reviewing crusher health checks, etc.Gain multi-site quarry management experienceSummer Projects vary in scope and size just as our products do. By the end of the summer, you will have had the opportunity to work with some of our industry’s best and brightest managers.Assignments will involve learning all aspects of managing a quarry or sand & gravel operation, including Mine Planning, Operations optimization, Quality Control, Sales, maintenance, Safety, and more.Opportunities will include evaluating the production equipment and mine layout.What We Are Looking For:Commitment and engagement through high level of work ethic and utilization of abilities for the best of the company.Internal and external customer and market management.Performance and result management.People management (i.e. management of subordinates’ performance and enabling teamwork).Demonstrated openness to change, flexibility, and adaptability.Establish trust and relationships.Entrepreneurial management (i.e. consideration of long-term risks and opportunities).Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Ability to motivate teams and simultaneously manage several projects.Demonstrated drive and initiative.Strong strategic thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills.Persuasion and negotiation skills.Sustainable management (i.e. compliance with laws and regulations)#intern
