FLSA Status: Full Time - exempt
Schedule: 40 Hours per week
Supervises: N/A

Rate of Pay: $72,800 annually

Position Summary:

The Mission and Outreach Director of The Salvation Army Denver Red Shield Corps shall be a person of genuine Christian character, of emotional, mental and physical stamina, and a loyal participant of a ministry team, able to work well and cultivate trust with other people in a growing congregation. This person must always represent The Salvation Army in a positive manner in personal conduct and appearance.

In addition, this person should possess: 

Experience with a variety of Salvation Army programs and a working knowledge of Salvation Army Policies and Procedures.  Ability to make independent judgments with the approval of, but independent of constant supervision from the Corps Officers/Center Director including, but not limited to managing staff and volunteers, scheduling employees and volunteer/community service workers, etc.  Ability to make decisions in “Matters of Significance” including, but not limited to the ability to formulate, affect, interpret or implement management policies or operating practices above and beyond applying well-established techniques, procedures or specific standards described in manuals or other sources.

Qualifications, Education and Work Experience:

Must be a Salvationist in good standing.

High School Diploma or GED with two years related work experience and one year supervisory experience. 

Must pass Driver Safety Test and possible be required to obtain a valid Class B CDL Colorado driver’s license.  The ability to speak and write the English language with professional level skill is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

The ability to use computers with a working knowledge of integrated database applications and the ability to use new software programs with basic training.  Must be a self-starter and a team player, perform well with minimum supervision.  Must possess excellent communication skills Must be minimally 21 years of age and possessing a valid in-state Driver's License

Scope of Position/Essential Functions:

Corps Programs: Assist the Corps Officers as needed with Corps programs including, but not limited to Corps services and programs including, but not limited to, worship services, Bible studies, Home League, Men’s fellowship, recruiting soldiers and congregation members, transportation, special events, attend Divisional & Territorial programs, assist in the Christmas kettle program, Angel Tree/toy and food distribution and integrate the mission of The Salvation Army into every program.  Outreach Ministries: Organize and lead mission work in the community including, but not limited to building, relationships with local schools, recreational centers, churches and businesses to meet the needs of the community while spreading the mission of Jesus. This may include work outside of the physical building in order to create close ties in the neighborhood while learning the needs of the neighborhood and creating a plan on how to meet those needs.  Oversee Facilities/Transportation Department: Duties may include but are not limited to supervising maintenance/custodial/transportation staff to ensure the building, grounds and vehicles are clean and properly maintained, manage staff to maintain the highest performance, supervise community service workers to ensure productive use of their time in the fulfillment of their duties to the community.  The three components of this position should remain in a balance of time and attention where no one component requires more attention than the other on a regular basis. Exceptions to this balance will happen on occasion.

Physical Requirements:
