Performs and reports results of a variety of chemical, serological, hematological, immuno-hematological, and microscopic tests and procedures to be used in the diagnosis and treatment of disease following established laboratory procedures and protocols. Performs the most complex testing. Assists in the training of MLT students.
ResponsibilitiesPerform laboratory procedures using established and approved protocols that require moderate to broad exercise of independent judgment and responsibility with minimal technical supervision at career entry. Perform a broad range of laboratory procedures rotating through multiple departments (blood banking, chemistry, hematology, immunology, microbiology) appropriate to the services provided and to the ages of the patients served. Work at least 2 shifts a month. Participate in weekend call rotation and holiday rotation.
QualificationsAssociate degree or bachelor's degree in medical technology required. One year of experience is preferred. Certification or eligibility for certification as Medical Laboratory Technician of Medical Laboratory Scientist by American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP), American Medical Technologists (AMT), or equivalent is required.
