Job Description

We are FIS. Our technology powers the world’s economy and our teams bring innovation to life. We champion diversity to deliver the best products and solutions for our colleagues, clients and communities. If you’re ready to start learning, growing and making an impact with a career in fintech, we’d like to know: Are you FIS?

About the Role:

The Mobile Development Manager will play a critical role in delivering innovation and growth for the Banking Solutions by leading a team of software engineers to help drive modernization of our D1 Flex mobile application.  You will oversee issue management and escalations, code quality, and invest in your team’s development and performance. Your technical leadership will help ensure the success of our largest retail application and contribute to the overall growth of the company.

What you will be doing:

Lead a development team to work on FIS’ consumer facing mobile banking application, D1 Flex. Contribute to transformation of the mobile application from Ionic Capacitor to React Native.

Establish individual growth plans for developers on the team; set performance goals that align with business priorities, and make sure each team member is set up for success to achieve those goals.

Monitor and support active code reviews within the team – create space for each developer to own the quality of their work and provide constructive feedback in a collaborative environment where everyone learns.

Focus on code quality by encouraging the team to learn about and embrace support for unit tests, static code analysis tools and secure coding principles.

Take an ownership approach to issue management by ensuring that escalated issues are quickly researched by development teams, and regular updates are provided to business stakeholders.

Analyze logs to determine which development team owns the next level of investigation.  Pull teams together, when necessary, to encourage a “one team” approach so that issues don’t get passed around among teams.

Build a dashboard for escalated issues to track progress, and report weekly to digital technology leadership.  Identify process improvements for escalated issues.

Create a learning culture within the development team by actively seeking opportunities to share knowledge both within the team as well as across teams.  Provide formal training opportunities to each employee.

Identify and implement process improvements with an eye toward business impact that could help the entire organization become more efficient.

Communicate complex technical concepts and technical decisions effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, team members, senior management, business stakeholders and external partners.

Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes in the FinTech sector, and advocate to incorporate changes into the mobile applications as needed.

What you will need:

Prior experience managing a team of direct reports to develop a React Native mobile application, particularly within the financial technology (FinTech) domain.

Hands-on experience with React Native, Angular.js and Ionic Capacitor.

Knowledge of secure coding practices, GDPR, PCI-DSS and other requirements relevant to handling sensitive personal and financial data in a mobile application.

Experience with mobile CI/CD processes, and App Store / Play Store releases.

Understanding of financial products, payment systems and banking protocols, to enable applications that meet both user needs and regulatory guidelines.

Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills to work effectively with stakeholders (internal & external), making information-based decisions.

Demonstrates judgment and flexibility; thinks about issues and identifies solutions that thoughtfully take the broader context into account - positively deals with a shifting demand for time, priorities, and the rapid change of environments.

Action-oriented self-starter who drives execution with a “roll up the sleeves” mentality.

Penchant for excellence, both personally and professionally, demonstrated by intellectual curiosity, record of accomplishment, and reputation; strong attention to detail and implements best practices with a drive for continuous improvement.

Familiarity in collaborating with global development teams (including India) and matrixed organizations.

Preferred degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or similar relevant field

Nice to have:

Prior experience migrating a mobile application from Angular / Ionic Capacitor to React Native.

Experience building and maintaining a white label mobile application and/or SaaS product that is branded and released for multiple clients.

Full-stack web development experience with Angular, React, Node.js and/or GraphQL

Embodies and delivers FIS’ values and culture towards colleagues, clients, and communities:
