The Mobile Equipment Mechanic will diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment such as front-end loaders, forklifts, tractors, trailers, and other light- and heavy-operating equipment in support of the Facility’s overall operations. 

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: 

Schedule maintenance for industrial equipment and machines and keep equipment service recordsRepair and replace damaged or worn parts to braking system, diesel engines, fuel system, power train, electrical system and hydraulic systemTest mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers’ specificationsOperate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defectsRead and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawingsDismantle and reassemble heavy-operating equipment using hoists and hand toolsOverhaul and test equipment to ensure operating efficiencyAdjust, maintain, and repair or replace subassemblies such as transmissions, using hand tools, jacks, and cranesRepair, rewire, and troubleshoot electrical systemsDiagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs, using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devicesExamine parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gaugesWeld or solder broken parts and structural members, using electric or gas welders and soldering toolsResearch, order, and maintain parts inventory for services and repairsClean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on all facility vehicles to ensure that equipment and vehicles operate efficiently and safelyAssemble gear systems, and align frames and gearsClean parts by spraying them with grease solvent or immersing them in tanks of solventAdjust and maintain industrial machinery, using control and regulating devicesFabricate needed parts or items from sheet metalMust be able to work on a rotating shift schedule and work overtime as needed including nights,weekends, and holidays.Troubleshoot and repair diesel engine emission systems.Perform major overhaul on diesel engines.Perform major overhaul on transmissions and other gear boxes.

 

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: 

Minimum of four years vehicle and heavy equipment maintenance experience, or two years of mechanical trade school training and two years’ experience as a vehicle and heavy equipment mechanicMust be able to operate mobile equipment such as front-end loader and tractor/trailerHigh school diploma or equivalent

Walk, stand, sit, and climbConsistently work in various weather conditionsAbility to lift/carry 50lbsQualify to wear a full-face respiratorAbility to work from heights and in confined spaces
