Summary About the Position: Sierra Army Depot is located in Herlong CA, a rural town in Northern California. Herlong is approximately 60 miles north of Reno, NV, and 35 miles south of Susanville, CA. The depot serves as an Army Expeditionary Logistical Support Center. Employees work Mon-Thurs, 0630-1700 hrs. Youth Facilities and childcare available. Mass transportation is available at minimal cost. Surrounding area boasts a full range of outdoor sports/recreation activities. Responsibilities Follow strict safety rules and regulations when operating road-rail vehicles or any other mobile equipment. Operate engineering equipment such as graders and tractors. Perform operational inspections of vehicles. Operate forklifts with a lifting capacity of more than 10,000 pounds. Provide transportation and handling services of materials between storage and production areas by means of gasoline- or diesel-powered trucks and tractor trailers. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Mobile Equipment Operator without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common duties operating various types of motor vehicles, engineering equipment, and material handling equipment, such as a forklift. I can perform basic rigging duties for crane operations. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Frequent handling of objects weighing 20 pounds while loading or unloading; making couplings between vehicles such as using heavy chains, bars, hooks, etc., which must be lifted and properly secured. Requires a physical. WORKING CONDITIONS - Vehicles are operated in all types of traffic and weather on depot and public roads. The operator is exposed to the danger of serious accidents.
