Sandy Creek is a 900-megawatt coal-fired power plant in Riesel, Texas. It features a single IHI supercritical pulverized coal boiler, a Toshiba steam turbine generator, and Alstom air-quality control systems. As one of the largest new coal plants in the U.S., it generates electricity for over 900,000 Texas homes and businesses using Powder River Basin coal.
Opportunity Summary
The Mobile Equipment Operator is a non-exempt hourly role responsible for operating heavy equipment such as large dozers, fork trucks, loaders, excavators, and track hoes. This position also oversees train coal loads and manages the coal inventory stockpile. Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently are essential. The Mobile Equipment Operator will be assigned to one of four operations crews and will work a rotating shift.
Primary Functions
Operate equipment to manage coal inventory Maintain coal pile slopes and mitigate the formation of hot spots as they occur Move and coordinate traffic flow on the coal pile when additional dozers are utilized to assist with coal pile management Lead the effort to keep coal supplied to the coal reclaim system as coal is fed to the unit to be consumed Maintain daily logs and keep checklists up to date on all Mobile Equipment in the fuel handling area Ensure equipment is properly fueled and housekeeping is properly completed on equipment used at the end of your shift Assist as needed in conveyor inspection, locomotive moving, RCD operation and rail car setting Must be able to operate a dozer, fork truck, loader, trac hoe and other heavy equipment Complete other tasks as requested by Operations SupervisorsNAES Safe

Working Relationships
The Mobile Equipment Operators positions report to the Operations Shift Supervisor.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Physical requirements include the possibility of standing for extended periods of time, stair and ladder climbing and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds. Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g., hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves and high voltage protective equipment, etc.). Work with hazardous materials may be required. Must be able to be respirator qualified. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.
Fitness for Duty
All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening.
Work Schedule
This position offers a 12-hour rotating shift schedule. Position requires extended working hours and varied shifts with weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules, workload and project conditions.
Compensation
The initial compensation will be $23.00 - $38.00 per hour and will include an annual performance bonus.
