Job Concepts Function of Work: To operate light mobile equipment to accomplish transportation, maintenance, or construction tasks. Level of Work: Experienced. Supervision Received: General from a Foreman or other supervisor or administrator or higher level maintenance personnel. Supervision Exercised: May exercise leadworker responsibility over laborers or other lower graded personnel. Location of Work: May be used by all agencies, statewide. Job Distinctions: Differs from laboring classes by the requirement to operate light mobile equipment and/or vehicles as a primary, regular, and recurring duty. Differs from Mobile Equipment Operator 1 by the restriction to primary operation of lighter mobile equipment. Examples of Work NOTE: Operation of one or more of the types of equipment enumerated must be the primary, regular, and recurring function of the job. Operates out-front rotary mowers with power ratings of 14 to 30 horsepower. Operates small lawn or turf tractors with ratings up to 30 horsepower. Operates sedans, station wagons, or limousines. Transports students, patients, employees or other persons between homes and institutions, on trips, or between points on or off institution or agency grounds, etc. Operates pick-up trucks or vans up to and including 1 ton rating. Operates small warehouse tow motors. Operates forklifts with lifting capacity up to and including 10,000 lbs. and lift height under 12 feet. May also operate auxiliary equipment such as lawn and sidewalk sweepers, air compressors, jackhammers, etc. Makes minor repairs to equipment and performs user maintenance necessary to keep equipment in clean, good working order.
