CLASSIFICATION: One (1) PermanentFleet Services Garage – Mechanic A (Mobile Mechanic)
LOCATION: Montreal – Fleet Management
RATE OF PAY: $48.90 / hr.
WORK SHIFT: Variable (5/2 or 8/6)
Job Summary
Duties& Responsibilities:
+ Performs minor and major repairs, servicing and up fitting on all types of vehicles, (cars, light truck, medium/heavytrucksand truck trailers) including mounted vehicleattachments (cranes,hirail, gensets etc.) and material handling equipment.
+ Uses electric and oxy-acetylene welding equipment, and other vehicle repair tools to perform repairs.
+ Records details on prescribed formsin accordance withestablished procedures.
+ AssistatFleet Management garage in times of operational needs.
+ Stock the necessary parts in the service vehicle to do the job and keep inventory asrequiredtoperformthe necessary repairsin the field
1. When on duty,willcarry a cell phoneand remainavailable at all times by end user or garage supervisor.
+ Complete a Mobile Mechanic Weekly Planner andsubmitit to the garage supervisorfor reviewprior tothe following scheduled workweek.
+ keep track and summit all OCS expensesat latestby the end of the month.
+ Generate repair orders through the RAC.
+ Ensurethat all the parts and labor timesdocumentedon the repair orders.
+ Ensure that allrepair orders are completed andsubmittedto the garage supervisor for review by the end of every work cycle.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Employment Requirements:
+ HD Red Seal Certificate isrequired.AutomotiveRed Seal Certificatewould be an asset.
+ Otheradditionalmechanic certification would be an asset.
+ Must be able to pass the current Mechanic “A” test.
+ Must be capable of servicing and repairingvarious typesofHirailequipment.
+ Must have at least fiveyears’ experiencein the Heavy Duty or Commercial Transport repair trade.
+ Capable of certifying company equipmentin accordance withProvincial/Regulatory standards.ValidProvincialdriver’slicense isrequired. Air endorsement and class upgrade would be an asset.
+ Capableto operateall types of vehicles and equipment serviced.
+ Required to have own basic hand tools sufficient to perform repairs and servicing to all types of fleet equipment.
+ Must be able to work either inside or outside at the terminal and away from the homebase.
Work Conditions:
The mobile mechanic is expected to perform PMH inspections and general repairs(as per duties)acrosshome based province howevernot limited to. Outsidework at terminals,in the fieldandshop environmentwill berequired.Prolonged stay away from home when performing fieldwork may berequired.
Work Schedule:
+ The work schedule will be 5 days on 2 days off or 8 days on and 6 days off depending on operational needs.
+ Work schedules will be pre-determined & approved by supervisor prior to start of work shift.
+ Fleet ManagementGarage will be the home base and reporting location at the beginning & end of each work block.
Vehicle:
+ The service vehicle will bea NSCvehicle. Mobilemechanicwill be responsible to complete the vehicle daily inspection form and driver’s daily logs andsubmitthe driver’s logs to the compliance office by the end of month.
+ Mobilemechanicwill be responsibleto completethe NSC training every 3 years.
+ Mobilemechanicwill be responsible to follow the CN Vehicle Use Policy at all times when operating a CN vehicle.
+ Work truck will be stationed at theFleet Managementgarage
