Downer Rail and Transit Systems (RTS) has a fantastic opportunity for a Train Technician to join our Pakenham facilities in VIC. We have 10-year contracts that will enable you to grow and develop a career in the rail industry.

This Full time - Permanent role is a key component of Downer Rail's Rapid Care team and plays a critical role in the delivery and reliability of the Rollingstock at our Pakenham facility and throughout the Melbourne Metropolitan network.

About the role:

The key responsibility of this role is to ensure that the service requirements are met and the trains enter service on time and defect free You will carry out defect rectification and some preventative maintenance on rollingstock. 4 on, 4 off, 4 on, 6 off rotating roster. Shifts will be 12 hours both day and night. This role will ensure you have a schedule of works that you will plan and ensure safe and efficient completion of tasks.

About You: 

Cert III in Electrical Fitting or Electrotechnology - Essential Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Current VIC Driver’s License is a role requirement You should be able to read, comprehend and apply technical drawings for effective fault finding  Sound Knowledge of IT systems and strong computer skills Knowledge of engineering best practices and electric traction is desirable  You should be able to recognise and manage challenges to help drive continuous improvement.  Should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills  Ability to work in a team environment or unsupervised as required  Knowledge and commitment to ensuring a safe workplace
