Job Description:
Provides assistance in safe patient transfers, mobility and exercise using approvedassistive devices, lifts and procedures under the supervision of nursing or therapy
staff.

Shift Details: PRN role (shifts vary)
No weekend or holiday requirements. Required to work 12 hours a month in-between the hours of 0600-2200.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Ensures patient safety by proper execution of mobility plan and standard procedures for each patient, as established by the care team, inclusive of appropriate equipment, method of patient transfer, mobility and exercise.
2. Follows all standard operating procedures and protocols such as chain of command authorizations, nurse signoff, patient identification and patient confidentiality.
3. Consistently follows universal precautions and department infection control procedures.
4. Identifies patient conditions and status that may adversely affect mobility sessions. Documents patient status, progress and/or tolerance to mobility interaction on approved forms.
5. Documents mobility per care site guidelines (EHR or paper)
6. Demonstrates competency in the use of safe patient handling and mobility technology, patient mobilization techniques, and proper body mechanics when using equipment or guiding patient activity.
7. Provides safe mobility, with a goal of progressing to mobility three times/day, following the mobility team procedures
8. Ensures that patients are never left unattended during mobility sessions.
9. Identifies environmental factors and potential safety hazards that may create problems for patients and/or staff and takes appropriate action.
10. Promotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and abides by service behavior standards.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.
12. May be required to float to other departments (within scope of competency and qualifications) based on business need.
EDUCATION
Required: N/A - minimum of 16 years of age - Candidate must be a minimum of 18 years old if applying for position at St. Mary's.
Preferred: Enrolled in a pre-healthcare professional curriculum, RN, CNA, PT, OT, COTA or PTA program within a CTE high school medical pathway program or other
Ability to successfully complete the mobility assistant training program and receive sign-off on competencies/audited skills within 2 weeks of hire.
CERTIFICATION, REGISTRATION, LICENSE (*indicates primary source verification requirement)
Required: Ability to complete BLS Certification within 2 weeks of hire
Preferred: BLS Certification
