Founded in 1906, McLeod Health is a locally owned and managed, not for profit organization supported by the strength of more than 900 members on its medical staff and more than 2,900 licensed nurses. McLeod Health is also composed of approximately 15,000 team members and more than 90 physician practices throughout its 18-county service area. With seven hospitals, McLeod Health operates three Health and Fitness Centers, a Sports Medicine and Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, Hospice and Home Health Services. The mobility coach technician will provide assistance to post-operative surgical patients who are in their initial recovery with special focus on total joint replacements. These patients have a variety of needs, but a goal for all patients is safe ambulation. The technician will assist nurses with a variety of tasks such as preparing the rooms, gathering supplies, collaborating with healthcare professionals, ambulating patients, and preparing for a safe discharge.

1. Assists clinicians with patient treatment under direct supervision of the appropriate licensed personnel.

2. Responsible for cleaning and maintenance of shared equipment such as walkers and gait belts

according to hospital policy

3. Ensures adequate supplies and equipment are ready before entering patient room

4. Collaborates with the clinicians to assess patient readiness for mobility

5. Follows Extended Recovery Standard Workflow to prepare the patient for discharge

6. Utilizes appropriate health and safety equipment to protect everyone involved

7. Assists with various patient transfer and gait activities.

8. Perform assistive device and brace fitting and provide other patient/family education as needed.
