Job Description

 

Based in Irvine, California, this role is a Summer/Fall Co-Op that runs from July to December 2025. The candidate will take part in device modeling and characterization, which are important tasks related to the technology development of piezoelectric bulk acoustic wave (BAW) resonators. Collaboration with and support of other engineers across various disciplines will be possible for the Co-Op in this cross-functional position within a cooperative engineering team.

 

Job Responsibilities


•    Implement and recommend data-driven and physics-based models to analyze our BAW resonators, while following the advice given.
•    Use on-wafer device characterization to verify developed device models.

 

Requirements


•    Currently pursuing a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or related field.
•    Ability to develop stand-alone engineering tools/scripts via Python and/or MATLAB.
•    Acquainted with modeling using finite elements (FEA).

 

Preferred Skills


•    Expertise in using FEM software, like COMSOL.
•    Experience with the design, development and software implementation of complex mathematical algorithms.
•    Knowledge of statistics and machine learning methods.
•    Coursework in the theory and applications of RFMEMS and acoustic wave resonators.

The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $26.00 - $47.50 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $22.50 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
