Modernization OT Application Engineer I

Description:
As the Modernization Operational Technology (OT) application engineer, you will be responsible for advancing the standardization and innovation of OT distributed control system (DCS) and manufacturing execution system (MES) applications architecture, support, and modernization projects across North America.
You will work closely with on-site OT engineers, Process Automation (PA) engineers, and partner with key business segments, Global Technology (GT, which is ADM’s IT dept.), and your global OT peers to ensure the successful delivery of OT solutions for Modernization Projects.
Position will report directly to Modernization Program Manager but with direct alignment to Global OT Organization to maintain global standards.
The ADM Modernization Program is an ADM Operations Initiative to modernize our strategic facilities through Automation and Optimization. Utilizing technology and ADM expertise, we will reduce unplanned downtime, support safety initiatives, increase OEE and standardize our processes across our business units. The Program is an enabler for ADM’s Digital Transformation.
Job Responsibilities:Stand up OT DCS/MES applications ecosystem globallyPartner with PA and application owners to drive the establishment and communication of DCS/MES applications architecture and procedure standardsDrive development and implementation of OT DCS/MES applications architecture strategic direction, with a focus on Modernization scope and timelinePartner with PA to maintain compliance for DCS/MES-related licensingManage the collection of application requirements, techniques and controls of affected functional departments in order to determine problem areas and to provide operationally efficient solutionsFollow OT project methodology guidelines and standards and drive team adoptionCoordinate application activities with OT/PA managers to help prevent plant interruptions (upgrades, patching, etc.)Participate in vendor evaluations, recommend and review functional and overall application design, and complete technical planning to improve systems productivity and efficiencyManage third-party suppliers/contractors (where applicable)Some travel and on call are expected as part of this position during commissioning and start up activitiesRequired Skills:Strong understanding of process automation/control applications and HMI software applications (Rockwell Automation, Siemens, Honeywell, Wonderware, Emerson DeltaV, Valmet (NovaTech) D/3, etc.)Demonstrated experience managing the lifecycle, maintenance, and upgrades of DCS/MES applicationsAbility to think ‘outside the box’Strong communication skills - communicate at a conceptual level as well as at a hands-on, practical levelHighly motivated, self-starterComfortable working with cross-functional global teamsStrong documentation and organizational skillsMust have the ability to skillfully manage multiple projects simultaneously and succeed in an environment of competing prioritiesDemonstrated ability to lead by delivering on commitments and managing by exampleDemonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment; a willingness to learn new skills and take direction from other team members; and ability to organize information and manage time efficientlyExperience in supporting plant operations and 24/7 operating requirementsRequired Qualifications:Minimum of an Associates degree in a technical discipline (computer science, engineering, etc.)7+ years of experience supporting enterprise-level technology operations and services, including experience managing the lifecycle, maintenance, and upgrades of network technologies5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environmentTechnical experience with Process Automation systems, including Rockwell, Emerson DeltaV or Valmet (Novatech) D/3Preferred Qualifications:Bachelors degree (or higher) in a technical discipline (computer science, engineering, etc.)Network-specific experienceThis position will be located in North America.
