Position Summary:
The Mold Cleaner/Changer Technician contributes to the success of the plant by ensuring mold changes are made as quickly and efficiently as possible. The Mold Cleaner/Changer Technician is responsible for ensuring the tools needed to execute mold changes are prepared and staged to ensure the shortest changeover possible to maximize machine uptime and productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and request all supplies needed Performs preventative maintenance duties on press tables, auxiliary equipment, mold safety devices, and all items pertaining to the proper alignment and de-molding of tools installed into a press Area must be clean and neat at all times Perform all mold changes and mold cleanings as requested Verifies all necessary components and materials are present prior to conducting any mold changes. Maintain proper files and or logs required by Supervisor. Perform complete verification of set up on all mold changes Properly cleans cold pots when a mold change takes place. Responsible for complete turnkey setup when a mold change is performed. Perform any mold changes requested by Engineering for trials. Will participate in continuous improvement of the position. Maintains integrity of our MP2 system. Will apply the correct release to molds as they are cleaned or changed. Wears all safety equipment as called out for the job being performed. Lead person designated for this department will have the following responsibilities: Review Performance Logs from each shift to identify any lost time or barriers that can be prevented. Daily meeting with direct Supervisor responsible for the department to communicate schedules, supplies that may be needed, safety concerns, lost time opportunities, and barriers that prevented the department from meeting their objectives. Sits in on morning shift transition meeting to communicate pending mold changes, review mold cleaning schedule, and identify any activities that may need the departments support. Communicate performance and safety metrics with associates in the department.
Must Have:
High school diploma or GED; or minimum of three years related experience and/or training Two years’ experience as Qualified “A” Operator or equivalent press operator experience; or minimum two years of tooling related experience Must be or capable of obtaining forklift license. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate and percent and to interpret bar graphs. Basic understanding of keyboard, monitor and mouse. Must be capable of using MP2 as required by the position.
