Job Title: Senior Mold Designer
Job Description

The Senior Mold Designer is responsible for surfacing plastic injection molds using NX software within the Engineering Department. You will ensure quality is a priority while supporting the Program Managers to achieve design accuracy, meet deadlines, and enhance customer satisfaction.

ResponsibilitiesComplete engineering projects such as surfacing plastic injection molds on a daily basis.Set up and order components, tag finished design files, and issue files to the shop floor for machining.Surface component fixtures for mounting components on different CNC machines for machining purposes.Overlay existing tooling for part variations and provide tooling impact studies to appropriate personnel.Interact with internal personnel and customers at various stages to ensure quality tooling, including providing documentation for customer approval.Ensure tool designs conform to customer standards and ensure mold functionality through Kinematic representation.Prepare daily reports detailing milestone deadlines of present and upcoming tool designs.Offer input on maintaining and updating Engineering procedures as needed.Incorporate all customer safety standards into all tool designs.Notify appropriate personnel of any hardware/software inadequacies that hinder productivity.Work closely with Designers and manufacturing personnel to produce quality and cost-effective tooling.Participate in required meetings and training as requested.Essential Skills8+ years of experience in the tool & mold trade.2+ years of surface design experience within the automotive industry.2+ years of experience with CATIA or NX (CATIA preferred).College certification in mold making & design or equivalent or University Degree required.Mold surfacing experience.Additional Skills & Qualifications10+ years of experience in the tool & mold trade.5+ years of experience designing tooling/plastic injection molds within the automotive industry.5+ years of experience with CATIA or NX (CATIA preferred).Experienced with feasibility studies and advanced feasibility.High-level communication skills and customer-facing experience.Work Environment

Currently, the team consists of around 15 members at the facility. The work schedule is roughly from 8:30 AM to 5 PM. Designers report to senior roles, and the team is led by an experienced individual who conducts feasibility studies and provides guidance. This environment offers significant learning opportunities and a steady influx of work as the company continues to expand.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $43.00/hr.
