Molding Floor Team Lead (2nd shift)

SUMMARY:

Coordinates activities of production workers by performing the following duties.

Leaders:

Leaders are expected to create a safe work environment through implementation and commitment to the Safety & Health - Vision, Values and Mission and the Safety Principles of Conduct.  Promote safety by following company and site safety policies and procedures, responding to safety non-conformance by coaching to correct behaviors and encouraging and support employees by attending employee safety meetings and recognition of safe behaviors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

Study staffing schedules and estimate machine assignments.Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations.Ensure all policies and procedures are followed by all and actions for non-compliance are fair, consistent and timely.Interpret specifications and job orders to workers and assign duties of 10 to 12 workers in Molding. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency.Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work problems.Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.Maintain time and production records.Perform other activities and tasks assigned by production supervisor as needed.Assist the supervisor in the evaluation of team in relation to performance reviews ensuring all reviews are fair, consistent and timely within the assigned work cellAssist supervisor in setting clear and consistent performance expectations by leading as an example for employees and help instill a culture of accountabilityCoaching others for development; identify and develop people to promote within the organizationAssist the supervisor with performance related issues within assigned shift.Act as a main liaison between other support departments (QA, Maintenance and Materials).Promotes safety in the workplace, follows all safety rules, and recognizes and corrects unsafe work conditions.Must be able to work mandatory overtime.  The regular schedule for this position exceeds eight hours per day, 40 hours per week.Must follow all work rules and policies.All other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMPUTER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must be able to operate a computer and printer.  Must also be able to use the following small tools:  Allen wrenches, screwdrivers, pry bars, pliers, and calipers.  Must be able to read and set various gauges and scales.  Must be able to utilize a scanner to call in skids and send out skids.

                                                      

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio and percentage and draw/interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
