Job Description
The Molding Manager is a multifunctional leadership role responsible for overseeing the molding department operations, maintaining facility systems, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. This role combines technical expertise, operational leadership, and regulatory compliance to ensure optimal performance, safety, and sustainability across all plant functions.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop processes using scientific molding principles.Plan, coordinate, and manage daily molding operations to meet production targets.Supervise molding technicians and operators, providing training and performance evaluations.Troubleshoot and resolve issues with molds, machines, and equipment.Monitor quality control processes to ensure molded parts meet specifications.Optimize cycle times, reduce scrap, and improve machine efficiency.Collaborate with engineering and quality departments for continuous improvement.Oversee maintenance of building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, compressed air, and utilities.Develop and execute preventive maintenance programs.Manage contracts and relationships with external facility service providers.Coordinate equipment installation, relocations, or upgrades.Maintain facility layout and ensure efficient workspace organization.Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions.Maintain MSDS documentation and hazardous material inventories.Essential SkillsExperience in continuous improvement.Knowledge of injection molding and plastic injection molding.Understanding of manufacturing processes and mold quoting.Experience with preventive maintenance and safety procedures.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Plastics Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, or related field.5+ years of experience in injection molding operations.Knowledge of basic facilities systems.Understanding of OSHA regulations.Familiarity with safety standards and environmental compliance.Work Environment
Work is conducted in an office and manufacturing floor setting, both of which are temperature controlled. The role requires being in the office 5 days a week with a flexible start time. The environment is laid-back and relaxed, supervising two tenured technicians, and is bonus eligible.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $110000.00/yr.
