Summary: The following details the expectations of a molding technician.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

Complete mold PMs as scheduled or requiredHelp perform mold changeoversSpray the parts that are blocked off with siliconeLook at drop areas and shielding to assure that parts are getting into stacking equipmentReport any oil leaks to maintenanceAssist operators with any problems that arise (i.e. stacker jams, belts off)Assist mold technicians in different areasPerform adjustments to molding machines to optimize the cycle and to make good quality partsWork with the quality control department on any quality problemsAssist maintenance and stacker maintenance when possibleFill out mold books and down time sheetsAssist with color changes and material changesReport any safety problems or concerns to your supervisor

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

 

High school diploma or general education degree (GED), any related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience is a plus.

 

Language Skills:

 

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to speak and communicate effectively with other employees of the organization.

 

Mathematical Skills:

 

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, and decimals.

 

Reasoning Ability:

 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several variables.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts.  The employee is frequently exposed to extreme heat and risk of electrical shock.  The employee occasionally works in high places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles.  During the summer months, even with climate controls, the work area can be very hot.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.  Fumes from certain compounds may be offensive to some individuals. 

The molding technician position is very fast paced at times.  In addition, this position may be strenuous, both physically and emotionally.
