Job DescriptionExciting opportunity at MSK! The mission of the Diagnostic Molecular Pathology Laboratory (DMP) is to promote precision oncology by using cutting-edge genomic technologies and platforms to inform the diagnosis, prognosis and therapy of cancer patients.
To enable high-throughput tumor genomic profiling, DMP, in collaboration with the Center for Molecular Oncology, has validated and implemented a number of next-generation sequencing (NGS) based assays for clinical use, including MSK-IMPACT for tumor tissue and MSK-ACCESS for circulating tumor DNA. Both assays have been approved by NYSDOH for clinical use and MSK-IMPACT has been authorized by the US Food & Drug Administration as a clinical test and has been used to profile tumor and normal DNA samples from more than 90,000 MSKCC patients as part of their diagnosis and clinical care.
The Molecular Pathology Test Development Manager- Diagnostic Molecular Pathology is responsible for overseeing the DMP Laboratory's test development pipeline in conjunction with the laboratory leadership. The incumbent will work with laboratory leadership on identifying new assay development priorities and ensuring deliverables within the laboratory are met on schedule. This position will provide leadership, coordination and oversight for existing clinical test development effort.
Role overview:
Will provide project management of new assays for Clinical Test Development.Work with laboratory leadership and Developmental Team for NYS submission of new testing.Prioritize overall activities of the Clinical Test Development team to meet departmental/laboratory goals, assigns/delegates work to team members.Collaborate with Laboratory Supervisors and Clinical Lab staff for new test implementation.Collaborate with Laboratory Manager for Financial development of new testing.Helps to provide technical/clinical guidance to staff to ensure that problems are resolved and work assignments can be completed within established time frames as per the Laboratory Leadership.Provide input to develop an annual equipment and operational budget for test development.Provide feedback to Supervisory staff for performance appraisals related to staff.Maintain detailed records of all experiments, draft technical procedures and written summaries pertaining to research work, and present results and progress updates at lab/developmental meetings.Assist DMP Laboratory with SOP design and updates on new or existing tests as needed.Work with laboratory automation team on development/optimization projects.Work with engineering team to develop software systems including LIMS and data management workflows.Qualifications:
BS or Master’s (preferred) in Biological Science, Molecular Biology, Genetics, or related fields with 4-7 years of experience or a doctorate with 2-4 years of experienceExperience with project managementAdditional information:
