Position Title: Routeman I CPID:
Department: Environmental Services
Purpose: The Routeman I is responsible for delivery of clean laundry and the pick up of soiled laundry from
various companies. They will load, unload, or help to load and unload their truck. They will follow
all federal and /or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines while
preforming these tasks. The Routman I is responsible for reporting issues with the vehicle as well
as accidents, traffic violations, and damage to the vehilce before and after their route. They are
the main point of contact with the customer and must have excellent customer service skills.
Report To: Manager
Supervisory Responsibility: No Supervision: The job does not require the provision of guidance or supervision to
others. There is no formal responsibility for directing others.
Materials Responsibility: Moderate: Work requires moderate responsibility for material resources. Examples of
resources could include operating budgets for a work unit or department, specialized
equipment, costly or unusual materials or supplies, large amounts of cash or other
material assets. The employee has a moderate amount of control over these resources.
The cost of errors might result in moderate damage, waste or financial loss. The difficulty,
variety and depth of problems associated with these material resources is moderately

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
Education: High school graduation or equivalent
Field OF Study: N/A
Special Training: Non-Excepted interdtate DOT medical card within 1 year.
Licensures/Registration Valid driver/chauffeur license required, must meet MercyOne’s Motor Vehicle Safety
Standards, must be at least 18 years of age and be eligible to drive per Iowa state law.
Experience: More than 1 year experience required.
InterpersonalSkills: Interaction is with a variety of people. These may be fellow employees, customers, the
public or others outside the organization. Communications are of limited difficulty.
Interactions usually involve short, straightforward exchanges of information. The job
requires a limited amount of interpersonal skills. Interactions are non-stressful
encounters and dealing with uncomplicated problem situations.
Working Condition: There is exposure to some undesirable or unpleasant environmental characteristics. The
physical environment is generally safe and there is minimal health risk. No safety
equipment or unusual precautions are required. Exposure to these conditions exceed 70%
