Mortgage Servicing Collections Specialist

MUST HAVE: Collection system experience with building/maintaining calling queues, workflows, and tasks.
MUST HAVE: Advanced Microsoft Excel and Word experience recommended and preferred for report summaries or ad-hoc requests.

Sunflower Bank is looking for an energetic, highly motivated individual to fill the position of a full-time Mortgage Servicing Collections Specialist at our Plano, TX location. The Mortgage Servicing Collections Specialist assists Guardian Mortgage clients who are behind on payments to avoid or overcome delinquency. Through an assortment of collections calls and correspondence, Collections Processors advise clients of potential or existing delinquency, work toward solutions and prepare reports in a timely, accurate, compliant and professional manner.
Meet performance expectations for collection efforts for assigned accounts based upon individual goals and objectivesPlace or receive calls in priority per calling queues. Determine cause of delinquency and best course of action to assist delinquent customer, including initiating extensions, forbearance and repayment plans, and referrals to Loss Mitigation.Document all collection efforts for each assigned account in accordance with established proceduresEnsure that all delinquent accounts and assigned queues have been thoroughly worked according to standardized collection procedures.Ensure that appropriate letters are sent to debtors.Process account maintenance transactions according to established guidelines. Perform the job in accordance with applicable industry laws and regulations as well as the policies and procedures established by the company.Responsible for upholding Fair and Responsible Banking practices and Code of Ethics and Conduct guidelines.Understand and participate in the Bank’s Community Reinvestment Act program.Perform other duties as assigned.
Education / Experience Preferred:
Minimum 2 years' experience in mortgage collections/servicing.Advanced Microsoft Excel and Word experience recommended and preferred for report summaries or ad-hoc requestsAbility to create professional correspondenceAbility to coordinate a variety of assignments simultaneously and prioritize work assignments for self and staff.Demonstrate the ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems.Collection system experience with building/maintaining calling queues, workflows, and tasks.Proven effective written and verbal communication skills.MSP/Black Knight experience, preferred Loss Mitigation experience, preferredKnowledgeable with Fannie, Freddie, FHA and VA servicing guidelines.Evaluates and helps determine the borrower’s ability to pay, and collects appropriate financial information in a courteous and professional manner, striving for first-call resolution and in compliance with all applicable regulations.Counsels borrowers on their options through education of alternative solutions.First and second mortgage lien experienceProblem-solving skillsNegotiation skillsTime management skillsCustomer service skillsAnalytical skillsAttention to detailsAbility to make decisions independently within set policies and proceduresMust be a team player with strong attention to detail and able to work independentlyProven track record at delivering timely and accurate information in a fast-paced environmentExcellent critical thinking, problem solving, mathematical skills and sound judgment
