Mosquito Management Technician (Entry-Level!)

About the Position

In this role, you will...

Monitor mosquito larvae and adults in assigned areas, locating sources (larval habitats) of mosquitoes, and obtaining GPS readings and photos of the habitats.

Obtain written permission from owners for routine inspections and treatments on private property, educating them on future prevention techniques.

Provide treatment for the reduction of larval adult mosquitoes.

Maintain data for assigned areas of responsibility in the MapVision Database or other approved systems.

Assist with virus monitoring and maintenance of Sentinel Chickens, as needed.

Conduct investigations in response to customer service requests, setting and collecting traps, and conducting landing rates and routine inspections.

Perform user maintenance of equipment.

Stand as a backup for other service calls outside of the assigned area when requested by the supervisor or Manager and post signs when necessary.

Prepare, select, and maintain daily records of materials, equipment, and supplies; preparing reports as needed. 

Monitor environmental factors including wind speed, rainfall, tidal flooding.

Serve as team leader for MMS Aides, helping to maintain MMS facilities, vehicles, and application equipment.

Work Hours:

Full-Time, 40 hours per week.

Monday - Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (No weekends!)

About You

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent education.

Valid Florida Driver's License by date of hire.

Must pass the Core and Public Health Pesticide Applicator's exams within six (6) months of employment (we can help with this!).

Subject to Passing Substance Screening:  This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening.  An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.

Physical Demands: Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.

Starting Pay Range: $19.56 (Step 1) - $20.14 (Step 2), based on experience.
