The Mechanic Helper performs a variety of tasks such as washing, cleaning, and lubricating vehicles; loading, unloading, and storing automotive parts and supplies; and maintaining work areas.
Responsibilities
Performs a variety of tasks associated with the performance of maintenance on military equipment and supplies. Duties may include but are not limited to washing, cleaning, and lubricating vehicles. Load, unload, and store automotive parts and supplies. Maintain work areas to ensure a safe work environment.
Performs apprentice maintenance, repair and modification functions under the general supervision of senior team members on common vehicle and vehicle equipment.
Installation or removal of access panels, components and accessories, washing and cleaning of contract units and other non-complex duties. Assist with checking and replacing components, batteries, and tires.
Adhere to safe work practices on the various contract units and components involved.
Qualifications
Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident with written and verbal fluency in English.
Candidate must possess a working knowledge of the appropriate tools necessary to perform maintenance tasks as well as have knowledge of standardized maintenance regulations – specifically DA Pam 750-8, Functional User’s Manual for The Army Maintenance Management System (TAMMS) and AR 750-1, Army Material Maintenance Policy.
Must possess and maintain a valid GA state issued drivers license.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Common Access Card within first 90 days of employment.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment background & drug screening.
Must be capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling very heavy parts and loads. Must be able to climb, crawl, stoop, bend, squat, and reach as required to work on equipment.
