MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR (FORKLIFT OPERATOR) SUPERVISOR

The primary purpose of this position is to exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in accomplishing trades and labor work and to perform the duties of a Motor Vehicle Operator (Fork Lift Operator) in the Fleet Service Flight. Responsibilities - Performs work planning, work direction and work administration responsibilities. Applies Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO)/Equal Opportunity Treatment (EOT) principles and requirements to all personnel management actions and decisions, and ensures all personnel are treated in a manner free of discrimination. - Drives/operates one or more types of medium trucks, such as water trucks, latrine servicing trucks, van trucks, stake trucks, or staircase trucks to transport cargo, supplies, materials, baggage, and equipment - Performs operator maintenance. Ensures education in, compliance with, and practice of security directives, good safety, and health habits in all work areas. - Operates one or more electric, LPG, or diesel powered forklift trucks which are capable of lifting loads of up to 10,000 pounds as high as 168 inches to facilitate loading and unloading duties. - Maintains records and documents actions, such as operator inspection checklists/forms and accident/incident reports. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the , WS-5700 Transportation/Mobile Equipment Operation Group. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of a Motor Vehicle Operator (Forklift Operator) Supervisor without more than normal supervision. JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of and skill in operating one or more gasoline, diesel} or electric powered wheeled vehicles with a GVW of more than 10,000 and up to 26,000 pounds such as platform trucks, van trucks, stake trucks, and cargo vans. 2. Knowledge of and skill in operating one or more elec1ric, LPG, or diesel powered forklifts typically capable of lifting less than 10,000 pounds as high as 168 inches. 3. Knowledge of cargo handling and hauling and techniques for safeguarding and protecting cargo. Knowledge of traffic and safety regulations, practices, and procedures pertaining to motor vehicle and forklift operation. Knowledge of general safety regulations, practices, and procedures. Knowledge of a wide range of policies, and procedures, including sexual harassment and Equal Employment Opportunity/ Equal Employment Treatment. 4. Ability to interpret instructions. specifications, etc. related to motor vehicle, forklift, and power take-off unit operation and preventive maintenance. Ability to judge road/traffic conditions and read installation maps to determine the shortest and safest route. Ability to judge aisles, doorways. loads and load balance and operate controls to maneuver forklift trucks. 5. Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission. Ability to dependably to meet pickup and delivery deadlines and schedules. 6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
