Summary About the Position: This position is located at Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico. Fort Buchanan is located by Guaynabo City, Puerto Rico. It is near the capital of San Juan. Puerto Rico boasts fabulous ocean views, tropical weather, and lush green mountains. The island is approximately 100 miles by 35 miles and similar in size to Connecticut. Responsibilities Plan weekly and monthly work schedules. Establish deadlines and priorities for workload. Instruct subordinates on new procedures and provide advice when problems arise. Identify employee's training needs and initiate recommendations to provide necessary training. Counsel employees on performance, and conduct formal and informal performance appraisals. Utilize automated systems to generate reports to adjust: bus driver’s schedules, bus routes, bus schedule maintenance, payroll, etc. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: U.S. Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Motor Vehicle Operator Supervisor without more than normal supervision. To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following: workforce planning, training and employee development; prioritizing workload based off future deadlines; and identifying training needs. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles) Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation) Ability To Lead or Supervise Operation of Motor Vehicles Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) Physical Effort: The work is sedentary. There may be some walking, bending, and carrying light items such as papers and/or carrying objects weighing up to 45 pounds or less. Working Conditions: Drivers operate vehicles in all types of traffic and weather on public roads (or the equivalent), and are exposed to the danger of serious accidents and must exercise caution. They drive in heavy traffic and at highway speeds over complicated road and interchange systems. Education Additional Information Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. Salary is based on the local prevailing rate. This position is a term position and may be extended up to a maximum of eight years. This position may be converted to permanent career or career-conditional appointment without further competition as long as all requirements are met. To be eligible for conversion, employee must complete at least 2 years of current continuous service under a term appointment in the competitive service AND employee must have a current performance rating under such term appointment of at least fully successful or equivalent.
